Y’all, I cannot handle this dreary weather anymore! What is going on? I’ve loved that Houston has actually had a winter this year, loved bundling up and building fires, loved wearing sweaters and boots. But I need a little sunlight! When it comes back, here’s what I plan to wear: white, white, and more white! White linen really is the epitome of springtime, and my favorite way to transition to the warming weather is to pair it with a little leather and some black accessories. It says “I’m so over winter, but I’m still too chilled to bare my toes or expose my arms.”
Isabel Marant is one of my favorite cool-girl designers. All of the pieces are easy and exude that quintessential French effortless aesthetic we all strive for! This white linen dress is no exception, and while you will find copycats, you won’t find the details, the fit, and the overall luxe feel of this wrap dress. It is one of those dresses you will find yourself reaching for all season long!
I ALWAYS gravitate toward white, and I pulled this dress from the rack at Abejas right when I saw it, thinking I would wear a simple wrap sandal and maybe my favorite denim jacket. But as silly as it sounds, despite the temperatures, I really tend to more or less stick to the old school “no white after Labor Day or before Easter” rule, and that outfit just felt so summery. But just the way I “winterize” my white jeans with black boots and sweaters, I decided to ease this dress into spring by topping it with a moto jacket and wearing my cool weather staple sock booties. I love the way this look turned out, and it really felt more “me” than my original plan. I also think this dress would be perfect for rodeo season paired with cowboy boots and a statement turquoise necklace. That’s the best part of white: whether you’re following the fashion rules or not, it is always a blank canvas and so fun to make it your own.
Transitioning from season to season can be a challenge because you don’t want to invest in pieces that are only good for a few months. That’s what I love most about my leather jacket. It is the perfect transition piece to pull off a white linen dress before the Easter bunny makes his stop! And maybe it’s not what our mothers would consider a timeless staple, but I think it’s proving itself as just that for our generation, biker ol’ lady or not!
