Sweater weather has finally arrived (!!), and I was thrilled to break out this super fun bell sleeved sweater by Endless Rose! I purchased it a few months ago, but Texas didn’t get the autumn memo…so in my closet it has remained until this week. The sleeves of course caught my eye, but the price was also just right. And though it’s not cashmere, it feels like it! I have worn it three times in the past week, from a Hamilton performance in NYC to church services this morning, and I’m not sure I’ve ever gotten so many compliments on an outfit. I certainly don’t choose my clothing for that purpose, but it sure does make a girl feel good! The statement sleeve is strong right now with everyone from Elizabeth & James to MANGO to Club Monaco showcasing this look. It’s a great way to dress up jeans, and it made a perfect Sunday outfit with an oldie but goodie black a-line skirt, black tights, and the cutest Louise et Cie oxfords I got over the summer during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I also can’t stop wearing these fabulous pink fringe earrings from Noonday Collection. I received these as a birthday gift last month, and I can’t believe I’ve never shopped Noonday before now. It is an amazing company, with amazing jewelry designs. Their story is super cool and inspiring, and I encourage you to check them out!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – Part II
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – Part I
The dog days of summer often bring a frenzy of one type or another, from triple digit temps to fun summer concert series. But among us girls, not much brings the excitement of the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! This sale is unique in that the items aren’t the castoffs of last season, reduced because no one wanted them. No, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale boasts current, of-the-moment, in-season (or upcoming season) styles reduced for a limited time only. The prices of these sale items will go back up on Monday, August 3, hence the frenzy! Because many of the sale items are warm and fuzzy, it is sometimes hard to get into fall fashion shopping mode, but just blast up the a/c and let the cash savings be your motivator! We have combed through all of the offerings, and these are some of our favorite picks. You’ll notice lots of outerwear and boots because this is really a great way to pick up a nice splurge item for less that will be completely on-trend when the weather finally changes. Here are some of our faves. Stay tuned for Part II. 🙂

The Changing of the Guard- Spring Has Arrived With Stripes and Floral Print!
Like many of you, I just returned from Spring Break with the family and just cannot shake the fun carefree vibe you get from a great vacation (more about beautiful Seaside, Florida, to come)! Getting back to work was tough, and I just did not want to slip back into my winter suit phase with this gorgeous Houston weather that followed me back from Florida! So off to my closet I went in search of something that shouted Spring, but was also appropriate for work (why oh why can’t palazzo pants, tanks and sandals be deemed business attire?!). I was immediately drawn to this cheerful mixed print dress — it just makes me smile. However, since I do work in a busy law office, I paired it with one of my favorite tailored black jackets and a multi-strand beaded necklace to make it more “corporate” friendly.
During the working hours, I usually have to keep my fashion fairly conservative, yet stylish! I can’t teeter into the courtroom with my sky high heels or fun and flirty dresses. So when the chance arises to mix it up, I adore throwing on color and patterns. Mixing stripes and floral is not a new trend, but it has worked well for years and never gets boring.
I love this sleeveless striped tank dress with a bold floral pop — it makes me feel like a walking piece of art. I like how the stripes tone down the pops of crazy color, and with this super cute open style jacket, I can even wear this to Sunday brunch or a Springtime wedding shower. Take off the jacket and change up the jewelry, and this would be a fabulous outfit for an al fresco dinner date or girl’s night out. This dress is truly versatile, and I am smitten with the hidden side pockets in the skirt.
The on-trend Vince booties (which, by the way, are so incredibly comfortable!) give the dress a little edge, but sandals and and a ponytail would be the perfect accessories to take this look to an outdoor barbeque or yacht party! Re-purposing an outfit has become de rigueur – Kate Middleton has become the queen (no pun intended) at re-inventing her to-die-for wardrobe. This stylish dress can give you many looks this spring and summer without even trying too hard. Delight everyone around you in this ensemble.
