I adore the look of a cozy sweater when the weather is chilly. Unfortunately for me (and my bank account), I am super sensitive to most sweaters, and cashmere seems to be the only thing I can wear without needing to take twenty-seven Benadryls! Cashmere tends to be pricier and slightly more high maintenance than regular wool or cotton sweaters, solidly placing it in the splurge category. Luckily, as winter is winding down, this time of year is perfect to shop for these timeless sweaters. Most are on sale, and as long as you stick with basic solids or traditional stripes or prints, you can get years of wear out of them. I’ve linked to several great cashmere sweaters below, all of which are ON SALE (!!), priced under $200 (including a fabulous one under $50), and feature timeless silhouettes and colors. This Vince crewneck I’m wearing is 40% off with both free shipping and free returns.
Although they are a staple in any woman’s wardrobe, black pants are definitely not all created equally. This Enza Costa pleated “Easy Pant,” however, has earned the title of current favorite! For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a pair of go-to black pants. Thinking back on how my favorite styles have evolved, I get a little tickled (and maybe a tad embarrassed) as I recall the trends! The first pair of LBPs I remember having a relationship with was a wide-leg pair from Banana Republic my senior year of high school. My sister gave them to me for Christmas, and I thought they were just so chic. With the faintest hint of a pinstripe on the draped silk (or more likely, rayon) fabric, those pants made me feel like I was going places!
Call off the search…the hunt is over!! I know it’s a bold statement, but I do believe I just may have found the mother of all denim! I’ve always been a fan of flares and bootcut jeans with a lived-in wash, so when perusing new denim in stores or online, this is usually my starting point. I just don’t think you can beat the silhouette and lengthening effect a good flare provides, and with the slightly higher waist and great fading, this pair by Mother provides a timeless denim staple to any closet. You can read my tips for ensuring a great fit for flares here. Length is everything when it comes to flared or bootcut jeans, and as you can see, the hemline of this pair falls to just slightly above the ground with heels. This is only the second pair of Mother jeans I have tried, and the first pair was too short for me. So make sure you know your inseam, and if you’re are on the petite side, don’t be afraid to invest in the services of a good tailor. It can make the world of difference!
