This summer has almost come to a close, and my favorite time of year is just around the corner! I’ve always loved the excitement that comes along with back to school, whether I’m experiencing it as a student or as a parent. And of course, fall clothes are so much more fun! I had the best time collaborating with Abejas Boutique to choose some fun late summer/early fall looks. These leather joggers could not be more “me” and how perfect for Texas autumn! I absolutely love the dressed down silhouette paired with leather. I think a lot of us get stuck with the idea that leather pants are “fancy” and/or “edgy” and not appropriate for daytime, but these joggers also look great with Adidas and a tank and are plenty comfortable enough for 9 to 5. Paired with this pretty Peter Cohen draped silk tank, though, they also create the best date night look. The photos do not do this top justice…the draping is just so perfect. It is a classic style that will never look dated, and that’s exactly what I look for when I’m contemplating a splurge piece!
My initial thought was to keep my shoes neutral with this outfit, probably black or metallic sandals, but once I tried it with these fuchsia heels, I really liked the effect. The shoes that go with nothing, I have found, actually go with everything, and I have been wearing them nonstop! That’s the fun thing about a pair of statement shoes or a statement bag — you can usually update anything in your closet with them. I’m loving the pop of fuchsia, and I think this gem tone will transition well into the cooler months. I can definitely see pairing them with a bright red Christmas dress!
On another, more practical, note…plunge bras. I have finally found a good one! I’m not a fan of stick-on bras, and going braless feels way too exposed! As a result, I’ve often found myself foregoing tops and dresses I love because I can’t find the right bra to wear underneath. So, for me, this plunge bra by Fashion Forms is a game changer! It’s great for wearing with v-necks, tanks, or anything with a slightly plunging neckline. I emphasize “slightly” because if you go all J. Lo Versace with the neckline, you’re on your own. You’re going to need to stick to fashion tape and prayers! (P.S. The fact that her dress has its own Wikipedia entry is very amusing to me!)
