Spring is here (at least for now), and I, for one, am starting to feel that very real itch of spring fever! In just a few short weeks, my azaleas and wisteria will begin blooming, and nothing makes me happier than a beautiful and fragrant yard. Except maybe a bright spring frock like this fun cropped floral Intermix top! I rarely wear such bold prints, but the tiered, flared sleeves had me at hello. I mean…..???
Since it’s February and we’re technically still in winter, I decided to style this as a transitional look with my over-the-knee Stuart Weitzman Lowland suede boots. They are definitely a big investment piece, but they truly go with so everything in my closet and they are incredibly comfortable too. There are several great similar boots at lower price points, and the ones by Ivanka Trump, Sam Edelman, and Dolce Vita are really solid. As the weather continues to warm up, this top will also look great with cut offs and gladiators or white flared jeans and wedges.
I accessorized this look with some of my favorite turquoise jewelry pieces. Often, we reserve our best Najavo accessories for rodeo season, but I really love the color pop and visual flare these baubles provide any outfit, regardless of my destination. I am especially excited about this necklace my husband gifted me for Christmas! I was on the hunt for just the right squash blossom necklace for YEARS, and I eventually found my way to Etsy, where this pretty piece was found. I gave him lots of hints and narrowed the search for him, but ultimately he chose this stunner! I think he did a great job, no? Similar necklaces can be found at estate sales or even online shops like One Kings Lane. I recently spotted two gorgeous vintage squash blossom necklaces at Abejas, and of course Impressions of Santa Fe is a great source for turquoise jewelry. And if you like the look but don’t think you’ll wear it often enough to justify the price, there are really pretty faux versions available, like this necklace from Vestaire Collective.
As winter winds down and the newness of spring begins to arrive, I always feel such an awakening, a fresh start. I’ll leave you with the Grateful Dead lyrics I keep hearing over and over in my head:
Sugar Magnolia blossoms blooming,
Head’s all empty and I don’t care.
Saw my baby down by the river,
Knew she’d have to come up soon for air.
Sweet blossom come on under the willow,
We can have high times if you abide.
We can discover the wonders of nature,
Rolling in the rushes down by the riverside.
She’s got everything delightful,
She’s got everything I need.
Takes the wheel when I’m seeing double,
Pays my ticket when I speed.”
