Houston Kids: Two Local Businesses You Must Get Familiar With!

February 26, 2017 By Chandra Bonine Leave a Comment

Growing up in the fourth largest city in the U.S. can be a great problem to have for a kid. We have a world class zoo, every museum imaginable, six professional sports teams, and a playground on practically every corner. Camps and after school activities abound as well, but it can sometimes feel overwhelming to find just the right thing at the right time and on the right side of town for our littles. Thankfully, the brains behind iQurious Kids Houston have made it easy for us! iCurious Kids is a comprehensive search tool, allowing users to browse through thousands of after school programs and camps. You can narrow your search by age, location, and category, and once you select an activity, you can also see a list of similar programs for comparison. Listed activities run the gamut from the usual sports and dance options to animal care lessons, Lego classes, and programs specifically geared toward children with special needs. iQurious Kids is truly a one-stop shop for finding kids classes, programs, and camps for all kids with all interests! What busy mom doesn’t need this in her life?!

My daughter Kate and I were invited to the launch party for iQurious Kids, which was held at the fabulous Figlia Kitchen. If you have a child who loves serving as your sous chef or is a budding foodie, you must try a class with Figlia! The classes are held after school and on Sunday afternoons, and the recipes are just kid-friendly enough to pique their taste buds and just challenging enough to give them a real sense of accomplishment when they make it themselves! My five-year old was thrilled to make her own pizza dough from scratch, and the girly side of her was so happy to cut the dough into heart shapes. We also made sweet crepes, which she filled with fruit and chocolate, as well as coconut-cranberry oatmeal cookies. I can’t say enough about the experience, and I am looking forward to signing both of my kids up for another class very soon. Kate is a big fan of Chopped Junior and Food Network Star Kids, and she is convinced we participated in a “cooking challenge” and are on our way to being famous!
