The bow blouse has been around since at least the days of Coco Chanel. Dubbed the “pussy bow,” this look no doubt drew inspiration from men’s neckties, providing women with a prettier and more ladylike version of the menswear office staple accessory. Not to mention giving the ladies another option for neck bling aside from necklaces! These tie neck tops became ubiquitous with the 80s ladies — Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin certainly took full advantage of this look while outsnakin’ Moramax and doing their best to save Jupiter Hollow from strip mining in “Big Business.” Although it never really went away, the pussy bow has made a pretty big resurgence in the past few years, and I couldn’t love it more! (As evidenced here.) What I love about this WAYF tie neck dress is that it offers the ladylike look of the classic style while also giving it a modern edge with the cut of the dress and the black lace tie. It feels a little “Working Girl” meets “Reality Bites”/”Singles,” no?
Another trend for fall I have totally gotten behind is the studded, buckled ankle boot. Chloe provided us with the O.G. version in its Susanna bootie, which we saw a lot of last year. I’m wearing a similar pair by one of my favorite cool girl designers, Anine Bing (love her designs, still loving this dress), and many others are making studded booties to fit all budgets. The details add an edgy pop to any outfit, and they are great for fall transition footwear!
