As a little girl, I adored dancing, especially ballet. I somehow always relate petal pink with being that little girl who would perform at the drop of a hat. These days, I am much happier watching my own children perform from the sidelines, but I still love to feel like a carefree dancer when I can. Ballet inspired fashion has influenced designers (and the runways) for years. While I can no longer get away with pointe shoes and pliés, this look allows me to dance to my own beat with a modern, on-trend look.
This soft blush pleated maxi skirt leaves me feeling feminine and fun at the same time. Pairing this skirt with a silk black turtleneck gives it an edgier feel, and I love the pop of this red multi-strand necklace. Black suede booties create a contrasting texture with the delicate nature of the skirt, and the python clutch throws in a provocative element in opposition to the prim ensemble. I can also see pairing it with a black leather jacket for a bold street look. You can also dress the skirt down for the rodeo or weekend in the Hill Country with a denim shirt tied at the waist and some great vintage-style cowboy boots. For the summer, a cool white tank and gold sandals would be an amazing up cycle of this outfit!
