Spring is here (at least for now), and I, for one, am starting to feel that very real itch of spring fever! In just a few short weeks, my azaleas and wisteria will begin blooming, and nothing makes me happier than a beautiful and fragrant yard. Except maybe a bright spring frock like this fun cropped floral Intermix top! I rarely wear such bold prints, but the tiered, flared sleeves had me at hello. I mean…..???

Lady in Red
As an Aries, red is considered my fiery color (we are ruled by Mars, the red planet after all!). However, while I love the color, I rarely wear it, but when I do, I feel unstoppable. People take notice of the color and it stands out in a crowd. Red also runs the gamut of emotions. It can be used to express anger or to show love. And whose face hasn’t been red with embarrassment on an occasion or two? I recall my younger days of practicing law and a certain red suit jacket that I would wear to court. It made me feel powerful in a sea of male attorneys (usually in the requisite attorney uniform of navy suits and red ties). While I don’t need clothes to do that for me now, I still enjoy seeing that pop of red from time to time.
Flares and Fur
I got this fur and leather Theory vest a few years ago, and it has proven itself to be a worthy investment piece. I love it so, and it’s perfect for adding a little texture and warmth during the winter months. The only problem? I was limiting myself to wearing it to evening events only; it just felt a little fancy and didn’t seem to fit into my everyday wardrobe. I love a good fashion challenge though, so I became determined to figure out a way to make my fur work for day time. What better piece to pair it with than my favorite flare jeans?! With the cropped silhouette of the vest, I think the flared hem balances out the look and makes it all more proportionate. And layering a great vintage-inspired Led Zeppelin tee under it makes it feel more me! I tucked the front of the top into my jeans to avoid the frumpy, no-waistline effect an untucked tee can give, and I went to my go-to accessories: the skinny version of this J. Crew leopard belt and my trusty Rag & Bone Margot booties. Now this fave investment piece is a truly versatile piece too!
